Our story
Barsana Collective was born from a simple idea: to bring together beautiful Indian textiles, thoughtful utility, and a sense of warmth that feels deeply rooted in home.
The heart behind the name is Shri Radha Rani — Ladli Ji, as she is lovingly known in Braj. Over time, Barsana and Vrindavan came to mean more to us than places on a map. They came to represent grace, compassion, belonging, and the kind of beauty that lives quietly in everyday life.
That feeling became a gentle inspiration for the brand. We hope each piece carries a little of it forward — into homes, into ordinary routines, and into the lives of the people who make space for what we create.
Our thought is simple: that Barsana enters every household in its own little way, carrying warmth, beauty, and love.
A brand inspired by Vrindavan.
A name dedicated to Radha Rani.
A collective rooted with love.
How our bags are made
We start with cotton — canvas for the totes, softer cambric for the quilted pieces — and print it in small runs so a design never becomes a commodity. The quilted bags are three layers: printed cotton on the outside, a thin cotton batting, and a plain lining, held together by a running stitch worked by hand. It takes longer than a machine. It also lies flatter, wears softer, and lasts.
Handles are cut from the same cloth and bound with a contrasting stripe. Pouches get metal zips that survive being thrown in a bag every day. Nothing is glued.
The collective
The name is a promise as much as a description. We want Barsana Collective to remain thoughtful as it grows — close to the people who make each piece, honest about the work behind it, and open to the fresh ideas that keep a craft alive.
Our hope is to bring more of the printing, quilting and finishing to the towns of Braj over time, and to work with folk artists whose motifs already live on the walls there. We would rather grow gently and make things with care.
